DONALD R. “SHADY” LANE, age 85 of Jefferson passed away Saturday, February 25, 2017, surrounded by his family at the Rainbow Hospice Center in Johnson Creek. He was born on July 2, 1931, in Fort Atkinson, son of the late Charles and Blanche (Wake) Lane. Donald served in the United States Air Force from 1950-1954. He was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. In 2015 he proudly participated as an Honor Flight participant accompanied by his granddaughter, Sarah who is also a Veteran. Don married Donna Berkley on August 27, 1955 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on September 19, 2012. He had been employed at Stoppenbach as a sales representative for 31 years. Don then worked for Morgan & Myers. He enjoyed bowling, golf and snowmobiling and never missed the ceremonial tapping of the first keg at Gemuetlichkeit Days. Don was a member of the VFW Post 3589 Endl-Gruennert and the American Legion Post 164 Reinhardt-Windl both of Jefferson, lifelong member of Meadow Springs Golf Club and was the Club champion in 1974, and a member of the Jefferson Snow-Hawks Snowmobile Club.
Don greatly enjoyed being with friends and family and always had some good humor to share.
He will be deeply missed by his family, daughters DeAnne Lane of Oconomowoc, Debbie (Kent) Hoffman of Sullivan; sons, Daniel Lane of Fort Atkinson and, Dale (Colleen) Lane of Waunakee; eight grandchildren,
Kori Pelikan, Sarah (Patrick Schroeder) Pelikan, Kristin (Cory Roth) Wagner,

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Donna, and two brothers Laird and Thomas Lane.
A public graveside service with military honors will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery on March 4, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. A celebration of Don’s Life will follow the burial at the VFW Recreation Hall at 1420 South Main Street in Jefferson from 2:00-6:00 p.m.
